We made It!! The unofficial end of Route 66 is the Santa Monica Pier. The traffic on the freeway is somewhat challenging and unfortunately we missed some sights along the way. But here we are at the finish line!!
We all rushed to the beach to get our feet wet.
The Pier was beautiful, sunny and a cool 78 degrees (better than the desert!). Here are a few pictures of the skyline and attractions.
I am sure that you may not believe that we are finally in LA but here is additional proof with a shot of the city and Santa Monica Blvd.
Now it’s off to Seattle on Route 1 and Route 101.
There’s a little bit of sadness leaving the Mother Road with its old gas stations and cafes - the remembrance of the days when life was slower and there was adventure to hit the open highways; the excitement of exploration and heading to the new world on the coast. I’ll miss ya Mom Road - thanks for giving back to me the ghosts of the past and helping me live the dream.
The Mother Road
